Clinical Newport Trusts: How Tricia Jordan built Maldiva Aesthetics from dream to reality

For many people, starting a business remains a dream, aside from health, family and financial security.
But not Tricia Jordan. The founder of Maldives Aesthetics has built a clinic with over 1,300 loyal clients and a close relationship with Newport County AFC, a business built as much on community and football as hard work.
We sat down with Tricia to hear how she did it, and how Sage helped her make it through the night, here’s how:
Taking a step
Watch the full interview above—and read her story.
Tricia spent years working in dentistry while raising her children, practicing beauty in the evenings and on weekends until she was ready to go out on her own.
The hardest part wasn’t learning the skills. It was dangerous.
“Life is too short to live with what ifs,” he says. “I had something to fall back on, but luckily, it just took off.”
That determination paid off.
Today, he cannot imagine going back to work for someone else.
He says: “It’s not like having a job. “It’s like meeting friends. It never felt like I was at work.”
It’s built on trust, not marketing budgets
The Newport aesthetics market was already well established when Tricia started, so instead of competing with marketing, she relied on relationships.
Friends, family and neighboring businesses brought him his first customers, and word of mouth did it all.
That trust comes from putting customers first, even if it costs his business.
“If someone doesn’t deserve treatment,” he says, “I’ll tell them. I’m good at it, and what’s good for one person won’t be good for another.”
That loyalty has built real loyalty over time.
Lauren, a long-time client, says trust is the main reason she keeps coming back, having tried a number of other doctors before settling on Maldives Aesthetics.
Lauren says: “He always fulfills his purpose perfectly. “I’ve never had that with anyone else.”.
Clinic based in Newport
Ask Tricia what makes Newport special and she won’t talk about landmarks.
He will talk about the community.
“There is a good community spirit here,” he said. “My shop, there’s a groomer next door, a dog groomer next door—we’re always in and out of each other’s shops!”
That spirit runs through Maldives Aesthetics’ relationship with Newport County AFC. It started slowly: his children joined the Soccer Tots program as toddlers, then followed years of match days, days off—and his sons as club mascots became a family favorite.
“It’s like a family,” he says. “Everybody knows everybody.”
Those years also led Tricia to befriend a few players—a friendship that grew into Maldiva’s sister service, Oxy House, and its hyperbaric oxygen therapy room, now used by local soccer players to support recovery and wellness.
The clinic also supports the Smile Council, a charity linked to Newport County, and has supported fundraising for former player Jason Bowen, who has motor neurone disease.
“It’s nice to be recognized for doing charity work, but that’s not why we do it,” said Tricia. “It’s like a warm feeling, isn’t it; being able to help people.”
Finding time to return with Sage
Growing a business brings its own challenges.
As Maldives grew, Tricia had to transition from a sole trader to a limited company, obtain VAT, and continue to read her books, all while keeping a full client diary.
“I had an accountant who didn’t come well, and I’m not good at admin,” he said.
“If I had Sage accounting in the first place, I wouldn’t have ended up in the mess I was in.”
Late nights spent entering receipts and updating spreadsheets ate into time she would rather be spending with clients.
Since Sage now automatically captures and organizes his business information, that director’s time has decreased and his financial picture is clearer.
“Sage helps me find more time,” she says. “I have more time to spend with my family and actually have days off.”
Final thoughts: Looking ahead
Since launching Maldiva Aesthetics in 2019, Tricia has built a clinic with over 1,300 loyal clients, and with Sage in charge of the numbers, she’s now preparing to take on her first employee and look at bigger buildings.
But ask him what he’s proudest of, and it’s not the clinic itself—it’s the community it’s built around.
As one client put it: “I just keep coming back for Tricia.”
That’s the kind of trust all businesses hope to build.
