Class-Action Settlements You Should Seek Now, From Google to Tinder

If you’re done cleaning out your closet, it might be a good time to spring into the office to see if you’re eligible to seek class-action settlement payments.
If you’ve used services like LastPass or Tinder Gold, or if you’re a State Farm or Android customer, you may be able to get compensation in a recent lawsuit.
Getting paid for class costs requires patience. But why give up the money you owe? Class actions often require a claim to be filed before the payment deadline, so it’s always smart to keep an eye out for news and updates.
That’s why we’ve gathered information on a few key areas you may be looking for this spring:
Google Android data settlement
About 100 million Android customers are eligible for small postpaid payments at Joseph Taylor, et al. v. Google. The lawsuit alleged that Google misused users’ mobile data for unwanted background transfers. Filed in November 2020, the complaint alleged that the tech giant had “a dirty little secret:” that even when Google’s apps are closed, the Android mobile system silently transmits information to Google using customers’ mobile data.
Google agreed to a $135 million settlement while denying all claims, and a final consent hearing is scheduled for June 23. The settlement’s website, FederalCellularClassAction.com, says the class size for all Android cell phone users after Nov. 12, 2017 except for those involved in a separate Google case.
Customers are notified directly with additional information about the agreement. In this compensation, users are not required to submit claims. To select a payment method, the notification ID and verification code are required.
LastPass breach solution
Password manager LastPass has agreed to pay nearly $25 million, and a large number of US customers are now eligible to file claims. After the 2022 data breach, multiple lawsuits were filed and eventually consolidated into this lawsuit, which the company settled.
The settlement includes all accounts affected by the incident, according to the LastPass Data Security Incident Litigation website. Customers who used LastPass before November 2022 may be eligible. The default payment amount is $25 from the $8.2 million fund, although some applicants may qualify for additional reimbursements.
Victims of identity theft as a result of the LastPass breach can seek up to $10,000. Others who are unable to document cryptocurrency losses allegedly related to the data breach can access payouts up to an additional $16.25 million pot.
Notifications regarding compensation were reportedly sent in late March. Eligible users have until July 2 to submit claims.
Tinder fix
The matchmaking app recently settled a class action lawsuit for $60.5 million, while denying that it unfairly charged older customers more than younger customers for paid memberships.
The case only applies to certain California customers who purchased Tinder Plus or Tinder Gold after March 2, 2015, according to the payment website.
The deadline to make payment choices is Aug. 18. 2026.
Tom’s place to brush his teeth
Did you buy a tube of Tom’s of Maine organic toothpaste between Nov. 21, 2020, and March 6 of this year? If so, you may be eligible for a refund from the company under a lawsuit alleging “deceptive and misleading business practices,” according to the payments website. In 2024, the FDA issued a warning letter to Tom’s after multiple strains of bacteria were found in the plant and expired toothpaste, leading to false advertising charges.
More information about Tom’s $2.9 million toothpaste settlement can be found at toothpastesettlement.com.
Places to stay at State Farm
Lawsuits against State Farm in several states — New Mexico and Arkansas — were recently settled under multimillion-dollar settlements.
New Mexico customers can file claims for part of the $20.9 million class payout if they have “U coverage” for auto insurance, which refers to coverage for accidents involving uninsured and underinsured drivers. The website for the settlement is schwartzuimclasssettlement.com.
State Farm has also approved auto insurance coverage in Arkansas that has not yet been approved. Participating in this $15.6 million settlement would require a total loss of the vehicle for Arkansas customers, meaning the settlement phase will likely be smaller.
