What Tests Are Used to Measure Bilingual Proficiency?

The ACTFL Proficiency Scale is a tool for teachers to understand a student’s progress in language learning. There are 4 main divisions on the scale—Novice, Intermediate, Advanced and Superior. All main categories, except Superior, have lower levels that increase, such as “Novice Low” or “Intermediate High”, making the total number of levels 10.

What is the Timeline and Marking Process?
In general, the process of awarding the Certificate of Study and Two Letters begins months before the graduation ceremony, providing sufficient time for the test to be evaluated by Raters certified by ACTFL, which emphasizes the importance of sufficient time before students enter their graduation clothes.
Once the student has reached the required level on the ACTFL Scale and meets the school’s English requirements, the data is then returned to the school, and a mark is placed on their record.
